At eight there will be an adequate amount of darkness to embark on a regular Shakabarker nite drive. Last couple of nights have been excellent. Both trips yielded good leopard and rhino sightings. Last night was a bit of a bumper in that we encountered no less than 11 hippo peacefully grazing, but that was not all, there was also a another group of peaceful grazers. Namely waterbuck, and as you are aware if a herbivore is not shoveling quantities of green stuff down their throats then the are more than likely sleeping or ruminating. Okay so what was so special about these waterbuck? Well, there were 34 in this particular herd! In humorous terms a large ablution of waterbuck! Generally there are 5 to 10 waterbuck in a herd.
